Let's talk paper.
I promise this will be more exciting than white card-stock paper-talk.
But maybe not as exciting as this kind of paper. You know, if you find Dunder Mifflin paper exciting. Which I do.
Anywho.
Right now, I plan to DIY everything. I am aware however that there is a ratio that exists in all DIY projects comparing time and money. While tackling all of our wedding-day-bliss projects myself might save us some moo-lah, it might steal all of my time. You know that saying - time is money. I'm open to the idea that I might have to drop some projects off our ambitious list.
One thing I have no interest in giving up though, is our paper products.
This is my mom. And she is a stamper. (I actually chose this picture because the caption said, "{Mom} is a stamper.") Meaning she does stamping and scrapbooking like a talented fiend. Also, meaning she has the hook-up to the goods and the know-how on how to use them. This lady knows the difference between a punch, a brad, and those foamie sticker things that add dimension. (That sentence was really hard to write because I obviously am lacking in some scrapbook/card-making/stampin' knowledge.)
Even more, stamping isn't something that she does alone. A good chunk of ladies on her side of family also drink some of the scrapbooking-water and make some sweet lookin' cards.
So backed with supportive paper-crafty ladies, why wouldn't I take my chance to jump into the family hobby?
Here is some paper product ideas that provide big bang inspiration:
I love the dramatic picture and the format. The STDs (save the dates - not cooties), RSVP cards, and thank you cards will probably be postcards to help save on postage. Postage doesn't sound like a lot but when you consider that we will probably be sending out at least 70 invitations for a guest count of around 100, it adds up quick. Heck, pinching pennies here and there means that we can keep on track with our budget and still have everything we want.
I'm trying to stay realistic with my goals of crafting. I know that the more intricate each piece is, the harder it will be to make 70+ of each. Maybe that is one reason I love these simple programs. Nice paper, font that matches the other paper goods, and a simple heart cut-out. Okay, rounding the corners of each one may seem daunting but if it is a print and punch kind of design - I'm sold.
Our thank you cards will include a picture from the wedding on a postcard. I love the idea of taking an extra piece of lumber, weathering it and writing "thank you" to hold up. Hopefully we can include our heads in the picture.
... you may have noticed that something is missing. Yep. I am seriously lacking invitation inspiration. We will want really make it an invitation suite: invitation, rsvp postcard, maybe a little map with directions, and a tag with our wedding website printed on it.
The invitation will be the opportunity to get all kinds of creative and involve those brad thingies and whatever other fun paper goodies I can find.
How did it go finding your invitations? Did you just know instantly what you wanted or did it take some serious hunting to find what something that made you happy? Good thing we have 549 days until W-day.
